This 31,000 square foot addition to the existing museum involves a combination of renovation and new construction. The expansion opened to the public on October 19, 1999. The addition houses galleries, office space, classrooms, and staff workshop and storage areas. Ann Arbor, MI.

The new Ann Street entrance utilizes a combination of colors (representing the color spectrum) and applied exhibits to set the tone for the combination of fun and learning inside. A plaza will accommodate outdoor exhibits and serve as a gathering space for visiting groups.
